So happy to find another Scops Owl that doesn’t look like most of the others!

Not too much is know about this owl. It lives in the forests of Costa Rica and Panama.

Its hooting sounds like Morse code in this clip.

    Screech Owls don’t screech either, so I can’t help on that front.

        Beats me. I could never find any decent sounding explaination that didn’t sound like an anecdote or folklore.

        Here’s what they do sound like. It’s high pitched, but I wouldnt call it a screech. I find both calls very charming. Maybe people were just spooked easier in the Olden Days?

          How adorable 😭😭 what a hoot

          I also love bald eagles (lucky enough to have one as a neighbor) who make a little beepity chirping I like. People feel the need to dub over it.

            I do like their chirpy sound, but having been next to one doing some actual screeching before, they can be pretty darn loud when they want!
