Man, up until now their rat patrol had the best job ever.
“Our intense investigation uncovered that it was a dead mail-order rat, which had been delivered to a local snake owner. It was supposed to arrive frozen, but it wasn’t, so the snake owner disposed of the spoiled rat, where it was subsequently discovered. The rat had been long dead, long before ever entering Alberta, and therefore, Alberta remains, officially, RAT FREE!”
{these people will believe anything}
“I dislike the UCP, therefore, let me make fun of Alberta after a single dead rat is found”
For crying out loud, there’s a million things you can make fun of where I live for, but do you expect this province to have a force field at it’s border that the UCP just switched off? Rats have been found before in this province in isolated cases like this, and it says a lot that I’m nearing 30 and only ever saw a rat once in my life in Ottawa at a pet shop.
Edit: You live in the U.S., maybe get your situation there straightened out before commenting on politics and matters here. We’re not a means for you to feel better about yourself.
<Insert obligatory Danielle Smith reference here>
No one’s stupid enough to think Alberta is actually completely rat free.
Alberta is so fucking weird. It’s like they care about literally anything but making people’s lives better.
Keeping rats out of people’s homes as pests doesn’t make their lives better?
I live in a city with a lot of rats and I manage to keep rats out of my home relatively easily, however I have a long list of things I want my government to care about and strive for before “being rat free”.
Alberta not only manages to reach maga levels of not giving a fuck about their working poor but now aren’t even rat free.
It’s one case of a rat. This has happened before on multiple occassions, and in each case the response was prompt.
I’m from here, I can tell you they do a good enough job that the first time I saw one was when I went out of my way to go to a pet store while in Ottawa three months back.
There’s a non-zero chance it came in on a MAGAt truck.
