Where are the best places to make new friends who happen to be in the community? I don’t really have any non-straight friends, and there no gay bar/clubs,/etc in this area at all, as I live in the south. My whole life, I’ve felt like an outsider living on an island. I’m 34, so it feels like I wasted my opportunities. I always hear stuff like, it being impossible to make connections after 30…is that just nonsense, or is it really like that?
There are lots of apps that have come out recently specifically for the purpose of getting people to events. My personal favorite has been Meetup which has introduced me to everything from foraging classes, to weird movies, and even holiday festivals I didn’t know existed.
I highly recommend checking out Meetup and going to some of the LGBTQ+ events that are hosted around you. You’ll meet lots of really cool people!
