I keep seeing people say we need ranked choice voting and/or something more akin to a parliamentary legislature… but I just don’t see a path to that. Passing the necessary reforms would require the reforms themselves to already be in place. Otherwise you get a Justin Trudeau, running on electoral reform and immediately dropping it as soon as he gets elected (cus if still allows him personally to succeed, how bad is it, reeeaaally?).

The other thing I see is “wait for the old [reactionary] morons to die”. Which, like, you know they were saying that when the boomers were the young hip progressives protesting Vietnam, right? I’m not saying there hasn’t been progress since then, but our foreign policy has changed very little.

If you are being forced to choose between genocide and worse genocide then you should violently oppose the people forcing you to choose. There is no negotiating with those people. Under no circumstances do the people supporting genocide care about other marginalized people beyond their use as a political token. Our Trans comrades are currently being abandoned by the democratic party. Build a third way or wait for your death to be the lesser evil. This good cop bad cop routine is exactly what got us in to this mess, both cops have a boot on your neck.
