Honestly who is still eating McDonald’s knowing it’s fake meat?
I don’t eat McDonald’s because of its shitty business practices, but why does it matter if it’s real meat as long as the person eating it enjoys it? Also, they are actually 100% real beef, just basically a blend of different cuts merged into one.
IIRC, it’s Grade D meat, which is below prison meat (and pet food, too?)
It’s been a while since I rabbitholed that one, and noped out after the adjacent revelations, NGL.
They don’t grade the beef since it is a mix of different cuts and trimmings ground together. It meets USDA inspection standards and is safe for consumption. I have no idea how that compares to something like prison food (I assume it’s very similar), but while MDs and pet food can come from the same type of trimmings, there are different safety regulations required for each. Regardless, the grade of meat doesn’t mean that something is bad. Grading is based on fat marbling and maturity of the cow. Most off the shelf ground chuck is going to be of about the same quality. They use the same quality meat as most other fast food restaurants.
It’s certainly not everyone’s favorite, and to me it’s definitely not as good as a higher quality burger joint, but the beef itself isn’t dangerous, filled with non beef, or poisonous as has been claimed in the chat.
Your faith in the US’ legal system is doing a helluva lift there.
In case this helps clarify,, fellow anon. 💁🏼♂️
What point are you trying to make with that link? It reinforces most of what I said. It’s just a guide on how beef is graded. It further explains on certain cuts that grading shouldn’t be taken into consideration with leaner meats as marbling inherently isn’t there. Like I said, McD’s beef isn’t graded because it is a ground mix of different cuts. So what is the point that you’re trying to make here?
Lol
I’m disinterested in headbutting your apologia wall, friend. Fast food is purposefully made with as little real meat as possible, and for cheaply as possible.
The article does not support your claim aggrandizing McDonald’s, but you go on with that pulmonary fuckery you’re on your way to. I’m done with this “conversation”, but good chat. Good luck out there.
Are you upset that what I pointed out that your saying is factually wrong? Man, you softies on this thread really like to double down when you’re patently incorrect. Just take the L, admit you learned something new, and grow as a person.
This information is readily available for anyone to see. The size of the patties McD’s makes is tightly controlled at their factories. The beef is inspected by the the same groups that inspect all of the meat you consume in the US. Just because you don’t like McDonald’s doesn’t mean that your incorrect assumptions are correct. I don’t like McDonald’s, but I’m also not one to just sit back and spread false claims or watch someone spread bullshit that’s not true.
This hasn’t been a conversation. It’s been you spouting bullshit, linking an article that’s not at all relevant to your point, and then you getting butt hurt when I point that out.
It’s fucking pathetic how you can’t just say that you don’t like the product and/or company and also acknowledge that the product is controlled, inspected, and not poisonous for consumption. Defending facts does not mean I’m defending McDonald’s. It just happens that y’all are just spreading bullshit information about them that is very easily disputed.
😂😂😂
Lol. You must have avoided it for quite a while. Nothing there worth enjoying.
I have had a couple sandwiches over the past few years since it’s often times the last option available for food in airports when it’s late. I used to eat it more when the dollar menu was still a thing. I’ve never once bought a mcdouble expecting something great. I think they have a fine taste, but it tastes like a 2 dollar burger. Now they’re also over priced on top of my other issues with the company.
I guess if the person eating McDonald’s loves to poison themselves with fake meat, then sure I guess it doesn’t matter as long as I’m not the one eating poison.
All hail!
Maybe you missed the part where it is 100% real beef in their burgers. There is 0 evidence that any of it’s not real and all claims about it have been debunked. But if it weren’t, what do you think is in this made up fake meat that’s poisonous?
Haters gonna hate, but if you’re going to make bullshit claims, at least put some effort into it.
It’s not fake, at least not in countries with food safety standards – or standards in general – but I can’t confirm whether it’s always 100% beef in the patties that they claim is.
There’s not enough cows on this entire planet to supply all the different kinds of cuts of meat, and ground beef for all restaurants and businesses making “100%” ground beef entrées. Not to mention, all the grocery stores that sell prepackaged meat that looks nothing like meat straight from the cow. McDonald’s uses fake meat, it is frozen paste imitation “meat” to make people think they are eating “100%” real beef.
This has been debunked a number of times. There is infact enough cows to do this.
It would only take about 1.5 million cows in a year to supply McDonald’s with all the beef they use in a year. Assuming every patty they use is of their largest size they currently offer. Which obviously they don’t.
So worse case your looking at 1.5 million cows, and realistically it’s close to 1-1.25 million since they are also using their smaller patties.
Last year in the USA alone 36 million cows were slaughtered for meat.
So mcdonalds uses about 4 percent of just the usa beef production annually, and because mcdonalds operates off of local supply chains instead of single source.
That means that 1.5m heads is sources across the entire worlds supply. So that’s about half of a percent of the world 300m ish production.
And keep in mind that’s a conservative estimation of cows slaughtered. The real number is likely actually a bit higher, tho not enough to really be worth mentioning.
As it’s going to be local small scale and home operations.
So unless you have a sizeable misunderstanding of the concept of numbers thinking that there isn’t enough beef is objectively retarded.
Now McDonald’s does use the cheapest lowest quality supply they can get their hands on. So calling it meat paste isnt entirely wrong. But it is BEEF meat paste.
Debunked or not, McDonald’s is still disgusting and the amount of people who are coming in with comments backing up McDonald’s instead of agreeing they are gross, really shows how many of you still live in the matrix and haven’t woken up to realize that there is poison in everything. There’s cancer in the food people. When you’re buying your next round of groceries from the store, be sure to look and see how many items you buy that have “Contains a bioengineered food ingredient” on it.
Needless to say, I’m done with the McDonald’s talk because it doesn’t affect my life or my body because I make all my meals at home with carefully selected ingredients and everything organic.
Peace. ✌🏻
People here care about whether claims are accurate. We do our best to care regardless of how the narrative does or doesn’t fit into our worldview (though that is not always easy)
I’m generally inclined to agree McDonald’s is gross, but I think misinformation and conspiracy theories are frankly much grosser
We’re not in here backing up the quality of McDonald’s, we’re pointing out what you’re saying if factually incorrect.
There’s cancer in the food people
It sounds like you don’t know what cancer is either.
Contains a bioengineered food ingredient
Engineered ingredients used to preserve food for shelf life so that more people have access to food doesn’t make it poisonous.
You all make me laugh with your comments still defending McDonald’s meat. Do you really care about McDonald’s so much that you’ll fight some one on the internet tooth and nail over the realness of fast food meat? Did I hurt someone’s feelings by saying McDonald’s meat is fake? You all act like I insulted your family. 😂
I’ll fight anyone over patently false information. I don’t like liars, and silence in complacency.
Organic food is also bioengineered… Anything that uses selective breeding falls under the category of bioengineered.
Literally every vegetable and fruit we have has been bioengineered, and basically only don’t get the federally required label because of a loop hole since the bioengineered label and genetic engineering labels have weird quirks on the legal side.
But there’s no such thing as a non engineered plant grown in the usa, all available seeds are from engineered plants. Unless you can time travel a few hundred years into the past and obtain seeds from before modern techniques started getting used you can’t obtain “clean” seeds.
Even just grafting a plant is enough to mutate its DNA and thus making it classed as gmo. And if not for legal exemptions all fruit and veggies would carry the gmo label.
It’s only thanks to lobbying that stopped them from doing so. So unless you want to use legal definition instead of actual common sense definitions. Everything’s bioengineered or genetically engineered.
While all of that is true and most of what they’re saying is nonsense, it is worth acknowledging that bioengineering in the stricter sense of the word they’re alluding to has been used to engineer resistance to pesticide that does have carcinogenic effects, so there are meaningful detriments to something being bioengineered beyond what is likely from selective breeding or grafting.
Issues around how to define the term and the way industry lobbying shapes everything ever are valid, but concern around how chemical giants are using the newer processes for modifying the genetics of seeds are also understandable.
In both the cases: the definitional issues, and and also the ways that giant companies are using bioengineering to create proprietary crops with chemical resistance to harmful pesticides they also sell, the underlying issue is capitalism and how money warps anything potentially good. Newer bioengineering processes could greatly improve food supply, and legislation could ensure consumers can make informed choices about what technologies shape the foods they choose to eat. In both cases something that could do good was was warped to serve the financial interests of large corporations
There’s plenty of legit ways to shit on McDonalds without making stuff up.

Honestly who is still eating McDonald’s?
This is what needs answered. 😅
Finally someone comes along and gives me validation instead of defending McDonald’s meat. I hope your pillow is cold ❤️
What do you mean with fake? Is it not meat? Is it meat, but not of the animal advertised? Is it meat, but of abysmal quality? Is it cardboard?
That’s offensive to cardboard.

Mother…fucker… Is this from WHAT’S HAPPENING???
Yeah, it is, funny show :D
That is a deep cut…a deep deep cut and shows you (our?) age. Hey Rog… Thank you for that.

It’s a meat flavoured pickle
Seems like every year I keep finding out some new development in the shitty old child food industry I used to eat back before I was old enough to feed myself
Just u wait, them pickles will be shredded to shreds.

This is probably a good thing, health-wise.
Honestly probably not. Your getting less useful protein. While likely still getting the same amount of bread and sauce.
So it’s even less healthy. If the buns wernt just low grade white bread it wouldn’t be the worse, or if the sauce wasn’t just ketchup.
But your basically giving up protein for no return or replacement.
don’t eat it… return it for a refund citing theft and never return to ‘fast’ food …
This uncited, unverified photo qualifies as “news & politics”?
[EDIT] Because confusion is ensuing:
This community’s “name” is simply “usa@midwest.social,” however its “display name” is “United States | News & Politics@midwest.social.” See below thread for further explanation. I’m objecting to this content’s being in this community based on the display name, which is intended to be the community’s title and default descriptor (vs the name, which is just a url).
Which sub are you in? ‘Cause I’m in usa@midwest.social, not “news & politics”

Literally says “United States | News & Politics”

Strange.
Because people are getting confused:
If you go directly to the community that we’re in right now, you’ll see that the community’s “name” (basically its url) is simply “usa.” However its “display name” (in other words the title most prominently displayed) is “United States | News & Politics”. See screenshot:

A community’s “display name” is typically the more descriptive of the two, and unlike the “name” can be changed. See this screenshot from Lemmy.world’s community creation page:

Depending on what client you’re using to view Lemmy, you’re going to have a different experience. I’m using the web app, the most default possible means of access, and apparently other clients show a community’s name rather than display name (as seen in the other user’s screenshot). However the display name is intended to be the more prominent of the two, the more descriptive of the two, and thereby the means by which a community’s content appropriateness should be judged.
In this particular case, if “usa@midwest.social” wants to be a catch-all community for any USA-related content, they should change their display name to reflect this. Until then, the community is advertising itself as a place for “news and politics,” and it’s perfectly reasonable for me to object that the contents aren’t matching what’s on the lid.
Huh. Interesting. I sort of figured it was something technical but I was at a loss for an actual reason.
And they will keep degrading the food supply until we’re eating something that barely counts as food.
Uh, we’re way past that already.
Yet somehow the customers still keep getting thicker.
Well yeah. The patty itself is one of the healthy parts of the burger. When you have to eat 3 of them not to be hungry that’s a ton of bread/carbs and sauces consumed vs protein
Nevermind the default size of the sugar-slurrup “drink” and the popular “meal” w/ double-fried grease sticks.
Or, that the habit engineered by this food™ co. and similar is akin to addiction, and is the result of decades of research to do exactly that.
They don’t even have the decency to call it a smash burger when they stretch the patty into transparency
