I had an orange kitty, recently passed, who was very clever. He would chase my wife’s feet after it was time for her to get up, and would see me off to work just about every morning for a year before he started getting sick. He would always want to be between us if there was a between to be had.

His idiot/asshole black litter mate, would forget who he was if either went to the vet and hiss at and attack him for a few days afterwards. He also knew those were feet his brother was chasing, he just didn’t understand why.

Our orange male does the vet thing, although it takes him months to get over it.

We ended up rehoming one of our older cats because of it, but she always hated not being an only cat because she’s an attention sponge, and it was to a retire who had just lost her husband and dog and needed someone to give attention to. And I sill get to pet sit her a few times a year.
