A University of Western Australia-led study published in Polar Biology documents the first in-habitat observation of the Arctic bobtail squid, Rossia moelleri, in Northeast Greenland National Park, capturing a mature female with egg masses at 50 meters depth in sub-zero waters.

The observation was made using a lightweight remotely operated underwater vehicle deployed during a Polar BLAST expedition, aboard a Secret Atlas Micro Cruise Expedition vessel, with support from Yachts for Science.
