What brand and model do you currently use to style and straighten your hair? What do you like about it? What don’t you like about it?
I’m in the market for a new straightener, and want your opinions. :)
GHD Platinum +. I have been using it for over 8 years now and it’s still working like new. Best flat iron I have ever owned.
Only downside is there is a gap on mine between the plates and housing on one side that’s just wide enough to catch a strand of hair sometimes.
Our climate will triumph over any hair iron, I have embraced the curls. Healthier too.
My kids like that blow dry brush thing, that’s not as hard on your hair.
The one I used in 2004 to get that Avril Levine hair. Fuck I’m old now 🤣😭😭 But I don’t use it often and it’s not even that great but, it still works which shocks me. I don’t even know what brand it is because that faded years ago.
I will say, it has this bit in the middle at the handle that’s supposed to keep you from closing it too hard and I won’t know hair for caught there until I pull it out. So uhhh don’t get one that can rip your hair out.
I just realized my ADHD got away from me and I’m completely unhelpful. I’m sorry OP
Mine from 2008 ish died. So I understand.
I use Remington, they are cheap but still good quality. I actually have two, a normal one that can go to 230° in 30 seconds, and one that can straighten wet hair and dry it at the same time, but it needs to prepare for several minutes.
Nr 1 is S9600, costs 30 Eur. Nr 2 is Wet2Straight, costs 25 Eur, can’t be used with dry hair at all though due to the way it’s constructed (despite the claims on the package it would work)
I love the idea of a wet to dry. I’m going to look into the Remington.
Yes it’s super convenient. I spray a heat protection spray on before just like I would with the normal flat iron to be safe and it has not damaged my hair in any way after using it for a bit over a year.
I stopped using flat irons, because I always manage to burn myself and my hair is so fine that it always ends up looking limp afterwards lol. I use this blow dry brush and love the volume I get. It has a small learning curve, but I get a lot of compliments after styling my hair with it.
I have 2b-3a waves and curls in my hair, for reference
I bought some random straightener brush from a shop a few years ago and I love it compared to a flat iron. I find the gaps between the brush-prong-things helps grab between my curl strands.
I use an Ion Magnesium Flat Iron 1", and it’s great for me! The temperature control is really nice, and it holds heat well because it’s a ceramic tourmaline iron with magnesium for even heat distribution. I have very fine hair, and it does its job well! I use it for putting waves in my hair, not straightening, but I’m sure it would be great for straightening! The buttons are inside the iron, so you won’t accidentally turn it on/off or change the temperature, but easily accessible when you need to. It also feels great in my hand. I don’t really have any gripes with it, tbh. It’s treated me well for the (relatively few) times I’ve used it
I don’t bother anymore. The curls have defeated me. It’s too much effort to straighten
