Trump slaps 50% tariffs on Canada and Carney vows to 'intensify' trade talks

The duties mark a major escalation in trade tensions between the North American neighbours.

These tariffs have been introduced under Section 338 of the 1930 Tariff Act, which covers trade discrimination rather than national emergencies (the mechanism used for the previous tariffs which the Supreme Court struck down recently).

He has a point about the alcohol. We should put it back on shelves. At this point, no one will buy it. I’m even avoiding US soda companies.
