    I guess he is fine. He first ran to Sparta (sth. like 240 km; known as the Sparthalon nowadays) then fought in the battle at Marathon and then ran to inform of the victory (~42 km; Marathon race today). He did all of this is rapid succession, then, understandably, died of exhaustion.

    I quickly checked, it even says so in the Wikipedia article that you linked.
