Heartbreaking: Queer Love Island declares bankruptcy after contestants form massive polycule and preempt all drama with open communication and a chore wheel

More likely: queer love island declares bankruptcy after they failed to hire enough staff to coherently follow all the polycule drama; chore wheel lasted a week and a half, everyone too adhd

More likely: Queer love island cast screeners are good at their jobs and pick candidates that create plenty of drama in the polycule while still make a coherent story. Queer love island postponed indefinitely after firebombing of the studio and murder of a contestant after months of far-right media calling it a threat to western civilization.

Which is, of course, ridiculous. Reality tv is the manifestation of everything wrong with society, not the cause.

Is this the corporate version of “cis white male or ‘political’”?

However, Stavri outlined current issues she said ITV was facing in adapting the series. “In terms of gay Islanders, I think the main challenge is regarding the format of Love Island,” she said. “There’s a sort of logistical difficulty, because although Islanders don’t have to be 100% straight, the format must sort of give [them] an equal choice when coupling up.”

Don’t see the problem here, they’re saying the current competition format they’re using doesn’t work when same genders pair up.

“With our dating shows, such as The Cabins, there is much more sexual diversity. The formats don’t have as much restrictions as Love Island.”

Sounds like it’s more them saying a handful of bisexuals can ruin the format by making it so some straight people don’t have anyone to pair with.

Clearly the answer is to only have bisexuals and/or gender fluid in a special edition season. Then another just for strict homosexuals. (I’ve never watched the show, all I know of it I have learned in this comment chain.)

For the contestants yes, for the showrunner no. The whole point of these shows is to create artificial conflict. Adding in LGBT people increases the complexity of the game by adding more potential pairings.

To which I say… boo hoo. Do your jobs or someone else will eat your lunch.

Honestly I cannot believe they haven’t done it yet. It feels almost conspiratorial that it hasn’t been done, might be the first time that I personallly would bother to watch a show like this and I imagine the drama would be legendary
