Hey my lovely comrades :) !!!..…
I hope you’re all doing okay I have been gone for almost a month now and honestly i didn’t want to come back without explaining what happened to us.
after our last update, something really bad happened. we had just received support from our organiser and i was trying to charge my phone so i could transfer the money safely. instead two men forced me to unlock my phone and took everything from us.
the only things they returned were our refugee documents before telling us to leave.
we ended up lost and walking without knowing where to go until a lorry driver carrying sand showed us kindness and helped us get back to juba.
since then things have honestly been very hard. we lost our place after falling behind on rent and spent about a week sleeping on a balcony before other trans girls here in juba welcomed us into the small room they are staying in.
right now we are eleven people sharing one room and just trying to stay safe and hold ourselves together after everything.
I have also been offline because my phone was taken and i couldn’t even remember my password anymore. somehow today i finally guessed it right and the first thing i thought about was updating the people who stood with us before.
i especially want to thank everyone who helped us during that terrifying time and the donor who sent the $2000 that helped us survive and get released. honestly i still feel emotional thinking about it because i don’t know what would have happened to us otherwise.
we are safe for now, even though things are still
we also took this photo today while sitting together here. honestly it felt emotional because after everything that happened these past weeks, we just wanted the people who stood with us to know that we made it back alive.
things are still really hard and we are still trying to rebuild ourselves slowly but for today we are at least together and safe
thank you so much comrades for not forgetting us
