I have a few relatives who have gotten letters from their parishes about the leases on the grave plots of their aunts or uncles or whatever nearing their end. It costs like 600 euros or something to renew it for 20 years and if you don’t they’ll throw the headstone into a dumpster and give the plot to someone else

I get the practical considerations and that space is at a premium at a cemetery but there’s something really jokerriffic about having to rent your fucking grave. Eternal rest my ass
