Interestingly, Wikipedia lists “full-time mother” as one of the possible meanings of FTM. Acronyms quite commonly have more than a singular meaning.

In my experience, most DTFs are DTF, so this one works pretty well :P

Or MTF = My Trans Friends. As in “my trans friends are also welcomed.” This FTM is so confusion inclusion-coded.

My sister was really excited about how many seahorse dads there were in her zoom pregnancy group (the pandemic was wild), because nearly a quarter of people had FTM in their handles. She even went a step further and noticed that they tended to be relatively femme for her expectations, and speculated about how difficult it must be to discontinue T and go through all of the pregnancy related hormone changes while still trying to present as masc.

Good example for an acronym’s meaning to depend on context. A username usually doesn’t contain enough context to support acronyms.

My friend recently had a kid and got really confused because the abbreviation is used that way in parenting groups. She thought it was a bit odd that she seemed to be one of only a few women in some pregnancy communities.
