The Alaska Airlines captain who safely landed Flight AS1282 after a door plug panel blew out shortly after takeoff in January 2024 has filed a lawsuit against Boeing, accusing the aircraft manufacturer of attempting to shift blame onto him and his crew despite official findings that the incident was caused by manufacturing failures.
Boeing should not be allowed to take on the serious responsibility of manufacturing airplanes.
It’s really partially the opposite that is the problem. In order to chase profits they broke themselves up. Then they started demanding lower and lower prices from the off shoots that make the parts. Those companies have no choice but to try to manufacture for those lower and lower prices because Boeing is their only real client. Back when Boeing was on top it was because they owned and were responsible for the entire manufacturing process. Now they shift blame to their partners that they have in a vice. The McDonnell Douglas execs royally fucked that company after the merger.
Imagine the thought process required to try to shift blame for this to the pilot:
“The door didn’t malfunction. It’s supposed to rip off if the plane isn’t flown exactly right…”
Seriously, did anyone actually think that through before trying to throw this at the wall and see if it sticks?
