This is the best summary I could come up with:

Emmanuel Macron has been accused of betraying the French Republic after he took part in a Jewish ceremony inside his official residence, the Elysée Palace.

The law has since come to be regarded as a cornerstone of modern France, ensuring strict neutrality between Christianity, Islam and Judaism, and guaranteeing that citizens are seen as individuals-in-a-state and not as members-in-a-community.

Speaking on Friday as he viewed renovation work at Notre-Dame cathedral, the president said he had no regrets, and that his invitation to the chief rabbi had been made “in the spirit of the Republic and of concord”.

Critics say he has failed to present a consistent line on the war, instead zigzagging from overclose proximity to the Israeli side at one moment, to intense courting of Arab opinion at the next: always with the aim of appeasing the large Jewish and Muslim populations in France.

Shortly after 7 October, Mr Macron visited Israel and proposed an international coalition against Hamas, much like the one that defeated so-called Islamic State (IS).

In France’s foreign ministry, which has been largely sidelined by President Macron, off-the-record interviews make clear the frustration among professional diplomats.

The original article contains 701 words, the summary contains 191 words. Saved 73%. I’m a bot and I’m open source!

It’s going against secularism plain and simple.
It’s rich coming from the guy with the government that yaps about secularism and republicans values all day when it comes to Muslim stuff like Abaya or burkini.
He’s a fucking hypocrite, that’s what he is.

You’re wrong. Lighting a candle out if solidarity is not the same as letting religious leaders decide about the state

Next time we should ask him to celebrate the Aid in the Elysee then. It’s definitely out of line for a French president to be involved in a religious celebration as the President. At least it used to be.

Look, most people don’t have this us-against-them world view that you suffer from.

It’s not like he never showed solidarity with muslim people. And your feeling of being treated unfairly is not the fault of any Jew

Gotta love the condescending tone from a person, who, most likely, has no idea of how secularism works in France, or what is currently going on here. Absolutely love the ad personam at the end too.
