This is us opening a new bar because the owners of the old bars we used to hang out at got toxic, but most of the people we had fun with are still at that bar.
You have to talk about your new bar there if you ever want the new place to be more than three people on a table.
Yeah except the old bar stole from us. We built that bar, its unique ambiance, the nostalgia on the walls. The people who owned the bar didn’t build it we did. When they couldn’t pay server costs, we ponied up. We built the culture, the whole damn thing. And they stole it.
No, my metaphor is more apt. Reddit is a thief of something they could never create. Its an ex that we should all have moved on from.

100% this. And that’s the reason why I left reddit a little over a year ago.
I did left a message explaining my reasoning and where to find me the day I left. Two persons contacted me after that. All the others I had interactions with? Well, they made their choice. Which is fine.
I do understand Blaze’s view, it’s generous and good willing (like he seems to be in all his endeavors) but, to use your metaphor, I don’t wish to spend my time in a thief’s house to tell his family/friends they should consider leaving them. They know who they are living with already. They know what’s happening, they see it everyday. And they have already decided not to leave. Once again, if I’m disappointed by it, I’m fine with their choice. Maybe they will come when things start to get a lot worse over there, or maybe they won’t.
yeah it did kind of go from having some legit legendary threads to just endless scroll slop punctuated by reddit trying to recapture the magic of r/place. if you asked me if anything cool happened actually on reddit after 2018,my mind just goes blank.
Wait maybe the inception of 195/196 comes to mind. or I guess the GME circus was a thing that happened. And one time a subbreddit I lurked in collectively became infatuated and got rejected by an entire other subbreddit. that was pretty funny actually.
but none of that was funny like cBat guy or Cup Fucker or Spez being made moderator of Jailbait or the Faces of r/Athiesm or Magic the Crackening

wsb kept the magic going. when the guy placed his bets purely on where the dog in his yard shit. the ‘guh’ moment. the ‘oh my gourd’ incident. that time someone “bought” several swimming pools worth of oil when its price went negative and then had to “take possession” of said oil.
at least a bit longer. it was really the only sub still committed to “fun” from the before times. of course it blew up and enshittified too. the gourd one though. absolute classic madlad action.
This isn’t an ex relationship.

Guys I’m still banging both of them …and digg.
Bruh digg?
Bruh I had to get tested after digg. Might as well be going on Fark, or even worse, CL message boards.
I hadn’t had fun with any of those people for like a decade.
