We’ve started delivering independent search results from our European-based index. This will help us build the kind of ethical and fair internet we believe in.

I have started using it instead of DDG few weeks ago. I can find what I’m looking at for day to day searches, so for now I keep it as my default. I had no clue they had their own index.

Apparently the European database search results is only for France so far. Let’s hope they expand it soon. Also that search engine does not support !r for Reddit or !w for Wikipedia so I’m not jumping on the train just yet.

Actually Ecosia has limited bang support compared to DDG - they only support a handful of the popular ones like !w and !g, but not the hundreds that DDG offers.

So this is just Qwant and Ecosia? Seemingly they’re rolling it out differently because the latest article about EUSP from Qwant was in 2024: https://betterweb.qwant.com/en/2024/11/08/ecosia-and-qwant-join-forces-to-develop-european-search-index/
