Very relatable. There are a couple I enjoy, but I don’t drink them for the taste. I drink them for the effects.

Cocktails are much more enjoyable. Plenty of those I would drink just for the taste. Though, I’m not likely to get a mocktail. Haven’t seen one yet that isn’t overpriced.

Sometimes I make mocktails at home. e.g. pineapple juice and coconut milk is a winning combo even without booze, and Rock Shandy (lemon-lime soda with Angostura Bitters) is very refreshing.

Definitely an acquired taste. And somehow, I picked up a taste for straight high-proof spirits but still can’t stand hoppy beer.

Alcoholic drinks that actually taste good:

    • Wine

    • Margarita

    • Daqueri

    • White Russian

    • Tequila with salt and lime.

    • Mimosa

    • Sangria

I don’t like the feeling of being drunk, though. I would love if there was a non alcoholic margarita that tasted like an actual margarita with the tequila and triple sec in it. Just having the mix without the booze doesn’t taste quite right.

      Good list!

I’d like to add a couple cocktails that taste good while still tasting like the alcohol that goes in it:

      • Sherry Cobbler

      • Ti’Punch

      • Jungle Bird

      • Fairy Sugar Mama (if you don’t hate licorice)

      • Mint Julep

      Daqueri

      You mean Daiquiri?

I’m one of those rare people whose body processes alcohol differently. I don’t get drunk. I don’t get tipsy. I can’t even get a buzz. To me, all alcohol just tastes gross, and there’s no fun side effects to enjoy while drinking it. So… I’m the permanent DD every time my friends and family go out to drink.

I was disinfecting stuff at work during COVID and told my coworker I liked the scent in the cleaner. She told me it was just 60% ethanol.

    I have since quit drinking.

The taste isn’t the point, the erasing the rest of the worrisome world for a few hours IS

Speak for yourself, I love the taste much more than getting drunk! Though having a tasty beverage is also a good distraction.
