REPORT | Four Palestinian detainees have died in Israeli custody in just over a week, with rights groups alleging torture and medical neglect.

Mus’ab Haniyeh, 35, was killed on January 5, but Israel only revealed his death seven weeks later. Raafat Abu Funouneh, 34, was taken from Gaza on October 7 and died after months incommunicado; he had no known health issues before his arrest. Khaled Abdullah, 40, from Jenin, was imprisoned without charge and killed in Megiddo prison. Ali al-Batsh, 62, was a husband and father to six children, taken from Gaza 14 months ago and died after being moved from Naqab prison to Soroka Hospital.

Israel has disclosed the deaths of at least 62 detainees since October, many showing signs of torture.

The deaths were reported by the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society, the Commission of Detainees’ Affairs, and the General Authority of Civil Affairs.
