    when cars first became a thing people actually hated them way more than we do now, a significant chunk of people outright wanted cars to be basically entirely banned and were successful in legislating things we’d find extremely silly nowadays, like requiring a person walking in front of the car waving a red flag, or coming to a full halt and like… dismantling the car when a horse passes it!

    at this point cars are like an eldrich entity so deeply ingrained in our minds that we simply cannot imagine a world where they don’t exist, it’s insane.
