Although Gabby Petito’s parents gave permission for her voice to be recreated in the American Murder: Gabby Petito series currently streaming on Netflix, her mother tells The Independent that a fake version of her daughter’s voice was “weird.”

She agreed to it for $ and now regrets it.

I’d have sympathy if they didn’t give permission, but if your the type of person to cash on in your daughters murder after the media circus has died down, I got zero.

Hmm you immediately think it’s greed but it’s not obvious.

They could maybe just want the message and life of their daughter to better reach people. They could even have mistakenly thought it would be a perfect recreation of her voice.

So I don’t have much sympathy either but I wouldn’t assume the parents were greedy necessarily.

White girl who went missing, and was murdered, in the summer of 2021. There was a lot of controversy around the media coverage it garnered because there were a number of indigenous and other minority women who went missing around the same time and received next to no mention in the news.

I finished watching this on Netflix like half an hour ago and it was pretty weird to hear her talk about her own writing even though she is deceased.

But that being said it’s a brilliant documentary and really opens your eyes to what others may be going through.

The ending was interesting about what the news reports on and what they don’t

Edit: corrected a word and added some thoughts.
