    Flexible sure but not exactly easy. There’s a lot of choices to make at every level and many of the feats have prerequisite, earlier feats so you functionally have to plan your entire expected progression up front.

      You want easy? I got easy.

      This is a deluxe version of a Tunnels & Trolls character sheet. You can actually fit a character sheet for T&T on an index card. It debuted around the same time as D&D and I still think it’s a better system just by being so simple.

      But then I am much more about story-driven games than the minutiae of combat, so YMMV.

      That’s fair. I’d say it’s easier on the GM, but asks more of the other players

      edit: Plus, there are free digital tools for doing that planning that that are super robust and easy to use. I find myself using Pathbuilder to plan out characters I know I’ll never have a chance to play.
