I was at a friend’s place one time, sitting on a couch that was up against a half-wall. I was on my phone and didn’t realize my friend was behind me until he asked “what’s Hexbear?” And I stammered “just a leftist shitposting site.” I think I played it off, but mentally it was like I’d been caught looking at porn. I wasn’t sure what I’d say if he asked any more questions. My friends are all leftists in the way a lot of younger people are: they watch Hasan and dislike chuds. But there’s a difference between casually watching Hasan and coming into contact with actual Marxist-Leninist posters who write effortposts defending the legacy of Stalin/Mao/the DPRK.
Plus I’d also have to admit to listening to Chapo, which I think is much more embarrassing than watching Hasan.
