Amid high temperatures at Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Las Vegas on Sunday, the former president made a quip about the heat affecting his attendees by stating that he needed their votes, adding, “I don’t care about you.”
Trump and President Joe Biden became the presumptive 2024 Republican and Democratic presidential nominees respectively in March as both continue to campaign ahead of November’s election. On Sunday, the former president took to the stage at his Sunset Park outdoor rally to speak to his supporters.
However, temperatures began to rise with a forecast of over 100 degrees during the event. At his rally, Trump spoke about the heat affecting his attendees as he made a joke about needing their votes.
“By the way, isn’t the breeze nice. Do you feel the breeze? I don’t want anybody going on me. We need every voter. I don’t care about you. I just want your vote. I don’t care.” His supporters laughed as he then said, “See now, the press will take that, and they’ll say, ‘He said a horrible thing.’”
Is there a word or phrase for when you describe or say something true but do it in a kinda funny way? Like you word it so it comes off playful or silly… but you actually do mean the words you’re saying. Surely the Germans have a 30 character long smashed together word to describe it
“Just kidding… unless” is how I’ve seen that described. For being a bigot or otherwise a piece of shit, I’ve seen it called “Schrodinger’s Asshole.”
And it would probably directly translate to something like “a little dog wink on a patch of grass”
I guess not, it’s like a combination of facetiousness and sincerity…sincere facetiousness?
Jester’s privilege? Like how people imagine that court jesters could say uncomfortable truths to the king without getting their heads chopped off because they did it in the form of a joke.
