It’s not even that. Even assuming this premise is true, perhaps people should not need to blow half their life savings obtaining basic necessities during a catastrophe?
More than three centuries of capitalism and the efficiencies of the free market still exist only in theories.

There’s a much more effective solution called “rationing”. Remember that only good war that Amerika and UK fought and won, and how successful that was at the time.
Yeah, like seriously… i recall several times there was rationing put in place for: toilet paper, eggs, and milk. Very localized rationing, but rationing nonetheless
