The outset of Vladimir Putin’s full-scale war in Ukraine exposed Russia’s ground forces as incompetently led and beholden to a tyrant in thrall to his own arrogance and neoimperial ambitions. The ensuing stalemate, now well into its third year, has been a strategic calamity for Moscow.

I don’t know Hockstader—maybe he really drinks the Kool Aid—but either way, to stray from the party line is career limiting and may not get past WaPo’s editors.

I don’t think the west has a winning strategy at this point, but if western powers were realistic regarding the capabilities of their adversaries they wouldn’t find themselves in the mess they are today.

If it led to stopping NATO expansion and coups and in consequence to no war, it would be a win for everyone except US ruling class, their political dogs and their neonazi pawns of Svoboda, Pravy Sektor and Azov.
