Hey Centrelink, if my appointment is booked for 2:30pm, that means it’s at 2:30pm and you shouldn’t call twice at 9:23 and 9:36 and get pissy that I’m not available. “Be sure to be ready at the time it’s scheduled for.” THAT TIME ISN’T FOR FIVE HOURS GO AWAY.

Also Astro Bot is an amazing game. Strong recommend.

There seems to be something on at the sportsball stadium. Lots of echoey bellowing. Bit early isn’t it?

A medical appointment gave me the chance to be taken back to the op shop because there was a Led Zeppelin shirt I didn’t grab. You snooze you lose, probably snapped up 30 seconds after I left by a reseller.

But I did get some Buffy dvds and some art books. I went a little ham because things are getting scrubbed from the internet and I’m rediscovering the importance of physical media.

Life is a little bit easier now the demanding meds schedule is over, instead of stressing Melbcat out all the time we can focus on cuddling and chilling together.

It happens periodically. Streaming services don’t hold on to things forever, and even sites like the Internet Archive (which shares free access to books) periodically has to negotiate a changing landscape of access to materials.

We do not own things we get off Netflix, or even off Steam and such. Access can be revoked

It’s so good. I think she’s got a slightly tender little tummy still but has started the fortiflora.

She’s now willing to eat her wet food with the regular meds mixed in which is so much less traumatic for both of us.

I currently have an annoying bit of string stuck in my teeth, and I can’t remove it because it’s the end of my disolving stitches and is tied into my gums. I do not like this situation.

I absolute despise catching Ubers, but sometimes it’s my only choice for a work thing.

Why the fuck do they drive with that whole “go fast, sudden stop, go fast, sudden stop”.

    Literally makes me car sick.

Good news! Just got a phone call from work, the client found the missing $$$ (and from the sound of it it was $$$) so that’s a relief to say the least. Change in the attitude of the carer lead was… a thing. But a cordial conversation was had and she’s taken me off that client, so all well there.
I’d put in an application to join a union this morning and I’ll keep on with it, as knowing aged care odds are that Something Will Happen.
But now I can do dinner tonight and really enjoy it, not just try and use it as a distraction!

Working in the community can be great, it can also be shit. Glad the dollars were found, but it does make you feel like garbage to have your professional integrity questioned. Union protection is a good idea.

Just join your union anyway, it’s always a good thing and they need the support too, to advocate for you. Forget cmfuckup, and focus on your own union and the good things they can do for you. :)

I’m so glad this has worked out, and that they know you had nothing to do with it! Enjoy your day and all the beautiful things in your life, you deserve the relief and peace!

I did! I did want to join the UWU for a number of reasons but the guy I spoke to said they wouldn’t take me on with a pre existing situation so I went for the HWU… we’ll see how it works out.
Thank you - contemplating a nice beach walk and a cakey thing, and tonight is dumplings! 😁

      Fantastic news.

How does $$$ go missing anyway and I’m guessing they tried to blame you for it going missing?

I hope they issue an apology to you as it sounded like you weren’t going through a nice time if you’re also considering joining a union for protection.

I think you should treat yourself to something delicious tonight.

        • Old person hides cash away
        • they forget where they left it and search other places
        • they decide it was the carer who stole it
        • they find it later and call back to say it was found

Old people do be forgetting things lol

          That gets me so angry.

It seems as a society we have forgotten that naming and blaming people can have serious consequences so you better be bloody sure. It used to be a sin to defame.

Exactly what StudSpud said, though in this case it was a little older and with health issues. And it did look like I was at least under suspicion.
Anyway apology has been extended and an Uber eats voucher has been sent, so that’s something.
I was going out for dumplings tonight, so now I can go and enjoy myself rather than try and distract myself!

I had an accident trimming my beard last night, the length attachment fell off while using and took a huge chunk of it out. Didn’t have any other option but to trim it all off. I kept the mo and some of the “soul patch” (had to look up what that’s called, strange name). I haven’t been hairless on my face like this for years, it’s an adjustment. Feeling wind on my cheeks this morning was weird and kinda nice. Maybe this was divine intervention to change it up.

My husband’s been growing beards lately and he can’t get the trimming right near the top lip. Doesn’t matter how many you tube videos he’s watched he somehow makes it look weird so he shaves it all off and the growing process starts again.

I don’t care if he has a beard or not. I just don’t want to see food dangling off the mo.

I used to trim my own and it looked pretty bad each time. Started going to the local barbers, and they’re fantastic. I go every 6-8 weeks, and in between trim it myself a bit.

        They’re worth it.

Good idea. Maybe I should give it a go first though.

When he goes in for a hair cut he gets his eyebrows trimmed. Surely that’s a sign you’re getting old when the hairdresser asks “Sir would you like your eyebrows trimmed too”?
