I was discussing capitalism and communism this morning. The flaw of communism is it fails to account for human greed. The flaw of capitalism is it fails to require human compassion.

It’s true because when my niece asked for food I told her that while I had extra food I was going to throw away I wouldn’t give her any because that would be communism and we live under capitalism.

This actually happened. Now she is a CEO

it fails to account for human greed

You say this as if it’s an inate trait of humanity when we lived for literally thousands of years as hunter gatherers without it, in shared communities with shared property.

It’s created by environment. Not by nature.

Meet the Hadza. A living demonstration of how different human beings are depending on the system you place them in. When humans have neither competition with one another nor a lack of material abundance they become something quite different.

Communism discourages greed, capitalism discourages compassion.

Like even if this shit discussion on “human nature” was of any value, there are NO “human natures” you’d like to discourage? Like the “natural human” desire to murder every late lane merger? The “natural human” behaviour of propagating childhood trauma?

      Idk this is just stupid.

Non-human animals do some crazy shit we would not want to do, and we know we used to do some and still do some crazy shit. “Naturally”. “Nature” isn’t better. And also it’s all fucking “nature. All our behaviours are “human nature”. We literally cannot act in ways that are not in our “nature”. What does that even meeaaan

This whole “human nature” thing is lazy and unscientific asf

Yeah that is generally the conclusion folks come to when they see the flaws of the system they live in, while also knowing very little of communism.

“Oh shit Engels we forgot about human greed” – Marx

You’re right, human nature towards greed is the only reason any humans are motivated to do work and that’s why we need capitalism. It’s not like humans do things for other reasons like survival or curiosity or as an output for creativity or genuine passion or for companionship or just plain boredom. Before capitalism people just laid down in caves and died because they had no monetary incentive to survive.

The flaw of communism is that purges are hard and you want to go to bed but if you don’t purge these capitalist roaders they’ll restore bourgeois control over the state and instead of implementing a system where the ceaseless accumulation of wealth is discouraged you just let the sociopathic parasites win. But hey at the end of it all you could say it was because people were just too greedy and not because every institution and law under capitalism is designed to reward greed.
