The updated release features real-time PvP with item interference, an all-new character, and a new soundtrack by Ryu☆

The good news is that this doesn’t appear to be a cut-rate re-release:

One of the biggest additions in DoDonPachi Resurrection Reignite is the new “Royale” mode. The multiplayer battle mode pits up to 10 players against one another in a fight for survival, with players able to use various items to interfere with their opponents and attempt to remain the last player standing.

Beyond the new multiplayer features, DoDonPachi Resurrection Reignite adds a new character, new stages, and new music while retaining the core gameplay that has made the DoDonPachi series a staple of the bullet-hell genre.

    I really need to find or import a copy of one of the games in this series. I think I’ll bite the bullet (hell) and just head over to Playasia and order a copy of Daioujou for Switch.
