    But why is there"marines on street"? Isn’t there a ground troops available to deal with inland issue?

      I don’t want any troops dispatched here (the national guard is theoretically fine if a lot was different), but the marines are probably best of the branches. They’re the advance troops with minimal additional stuff. The army is the big guns, when they arrive its no longer skirmish or mild occupation, its gonna be a while and its full on martial law.

        TIL. Then why are they called marine then?

        • They were originally part of the Navy, an amphibious force to attack from the sea. Obviously the need for that has very much declined. They are now an independent branch of the military but are technically still in the Department of the Navy.
