@mister_monster Given the Monero community is made up of individuals, I’m sure each one of them will be happy to make up their own minds about how relevant this is or is not. But if the Monero Town administration asks us not to post here, we’ll happily respect their wishes.
Our personal feelings are that Monero is the best choice of privacy-respecting online digital currency, and we encourage its use as part of the event. The Onionket Mitra, which factors into the event, is also set up to use Monero exclusively for monthly subscriptions… we are essentially an XMR powered Patreon for our participants. I imagine that would be of relevance to the Monero Community as well:

With regard to your other implications, users of privacy software are no strangers to being accused of drug-dealing, pedophilia, and worse. As such, no offense is taken. Just to be clear, though, Onionket has a set of rules for all participants which are clearly posted on our About page:

We have neither the ability nor the inclination to police the lives of participants outside our event, but we make a good faith effort to screen all participating content, and exclude anything that falls outside of said rules. If we find any clear violation of individuals’ rights in the process, we would forward it to any relevant authorities and make this fact very clear. After 5 events, this has never become necessary.
Thank you for sharing your views in this matter, however.
@admin Understood, we’ll make sure to use the appropriate community in future. Thanks for the clarification.
