Australian News@aussie.zone•Leigh Ryswyk becomes first AFL player to come out as gayEnglish
2·2 months agoThis is pretty sad. As an Aussie it’s kinda shocking that it’s taken this long, and such a minor player too. I haven’t lived in Aus for the past 7 years so I just assumed that something would have happened already.

Australia@aussie.zone•Australia's new $2,300 visa price increase and more key changesEnglish
2·2 months agoI was surprised when getting a passport for my son how expensive it is and only lasts a handful of years because he is an infant. We are already living abroad, and the more I read I guess we won’t be coming back.
I have to return for the first time in 7 years for a business trip next week. I’m interested to see how it feels being back

ObsidianMD@lemmy.world•[Discussion] What do you use Obsidian for?English
1·2 months agoI’m currently using one vault based on Kepano’s method. I use it for work, game and movie tracking, journaling, recipes, posts that I’m writing, and article clippings.
I like it a lot and I know over time my bases will be filtered and allow me to find “kid friendly parks in Kyoto” I’ve been to and catalogued so that’s rad, but the early days of adding files it feels a little overwhelming.
Small part of me just wants to use UpNote and be done with the tinkering. But I love to tinker, so I keep coming back to Obsidian. Plus I love the privacy approach.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•Takeaways from Steam Next Fest : February '26 from a player perspectiveEnglish
6·2 months agoReally awesome post and mirrors a lot of my insights. My company has a demo out for the Fest and I’ve been looking at what other games are doing, and our number of downloads and comments and all that. It’s really a great festival this time though! Glad you have a nice list of great new games.

5·2 months agoI really want to play this but I ain’t got the cash right now. Trying to avoid all spoilers. Hope you all have fun though!!
I remember my stupid 8 year old brain thinking that Super Mario All-Stars was so realistic compared to Super Mario on the NES.
I mean it looked good, but nothing about it it was realistic.

Linux@lemmy.ml•I think i am ready to switch from windows and need adviceEnglish
41·2 months agoI started on Nobara and it’s pretty stable now, been on it for a year. I think it’s the perfect place as it’s based on Fedora so easy to look stuff up and know how to handle problems, but it auto-installs the Nvidia drivers and gets you going immediately.
They have a pretty good discord for support too!

10·2 months agoThere is nothing wrong with FastMail, I just don’t like that they are based in Aus and are under the Five Eyes situation. I say this as an Australian who lives in a different country. I would prefer privacy locked, but from their transparency reports, they do seem pretty secure.

I’m about 10 hours into Esoteric Ebb and I’m very much in love. The writing and pacing of the game is super on point, and I’m already starting to feel sad as I’m getting closer and closer to the end.
Seems like there’s quite a few story beats you can miss though, so hopefully there’s a strong reason to come back to it after rolling credits.
