  • I’m extremely proud of the quality, balanced journalism that [proper news brand name of local station] produces. But I’m concerned about the troubling trend of irresponsible, one sided news stories plaguing our country.
    The sharing of biased and false news has become all too common on social media. More alarming, national media outlets are publishing these same fake stories without checking facts first.
    Unfortunately, some members of the national media are using their platforms to push their own personal bias and agenda to control ‘exactly what people think’.

    This is extremely dangerous to our democracy… We understand Truth is neither politically ‘left or right.’ Our commitment to factual reporting is the foundation of our credibility, now more than ever.









  • The federal government has committed to establishing a new division within the Home Affairs department to boost immigration compliance, which will target organised abuse of immigration programs and resolve the status of people whose visa options have been exhausted, but who remain in the country.

    Character tests will be strengthened for migration agents, and Operation Inglenook — which has been scrutinising the system — will be made permanent.

    Home Affairs Minister Clare O’Neil blamed the previous government for a deterioration in immigration compliance under their watch.

    “One of the great frauds that’s been perpetrated in Australian politics is Peter Dutton presenting himself as the tough guy who kept our border secure and our nations safe,” Ms O’Neil said.
