Edit: I should say the statements about where the photos were taken and who’s in them is debunked. Multiple civilians have been identified and the photos come from Gaza city, not Khan Younis as Israel claimed. The photos are real as far as I know.

This is something that has been making me feel crazy since the beginning. The attack had so many participants in so many roles it would have taken years to plan and amass the arms, vehicles etc plus training. All of it happening in one of the most surveilled locations on earth, constantly overseen by the us and Israel, two of the supposedly most advanced military intelligence apparatuses in history, and they didn’t catch on that something big was being planned? Your line about watching the murder of something beautiful really hits home. We live in such an incredible world, filled with wonder and with the capacity for joy and fulfillment for so many living creatures, and our overlords shit on it just for some meager profits in the next quarter. Most people I know are capable of recognizing this, but are stuck in a spiral racing just to stay afloat or willfully ignorant because the status quo benefits them even just a little bit.

I don’t know what to say to strengthen you against this. It all just sucks so much. I know there is a better world possible, but so often I can’t see a path towards it.
