Futurology@futurology.today•Toyota’s “Walk Me” Wheelchair Walks on Legs and Climbs Stairs – The Future of Mobility Is HereEnglish
2·4 days agoDepends on the user. For example, the developed world has a rapidly aging population. Many elderly people primarily need support for long distances or uneven surfaces. Stairs also become treacherous as hips and knees age. I can see a potential market for a device that can extend their independence and is less bulky and unwieldy than a wheelchair or a scooter.
Also, if the concept works well, I see no reason that they can’t add alternative seat designs. As I understand it, getting stable walking is generally a robotic challenge. Presumably easier to start with a simpler chair and then build on that.

Global News@lemmy.zip•Germany to Boost Ukraine Aid by $3.45 Billion in 2026English
43·7 days agoDirect war with Russia would be far worse for the German population. It is much cheaper to fight a proxy war via Ukraine and try to avoid war themselves.
Also, they are ramping up their own defense capabilities so a lot of this money will presumably flow back to German companies, and therefore German jobs.

I wasn’t 100% sure that highlighter is a type of make-up. Clearly I would fail a proper femininity test 😂😂
