I had radicale running for some years, it was finicky to set up I remember doing a fix in the code. But when it worked it did so without issues. Not sure how active development was in the last years maybe it has improved.

Thank you so much for this suggestion. It’s really a great step towards the end of tedious voice messages. Works great but is a bit slow when using the multilang voice model. I don’t mind.

Mailbox.org is great, I like that you get caldav and carddav as well. They’re very privacy conscious as well. It’s true the recent price increase doesn’t make me happy either. The service is great and I couldn’t find a better deal so I stick with them. Except for the price everything is perfect imho

Keychain isn’t really an option for me, but thanks for the suggestions! I love how tiny the dime is but whenever I research multitools I just can’t find the perfect fit for me. Maybe I need more than one tool haha. I’ve got a small backpack that I carry almost daily so I’m open too larger tools as well. We’ll see :)

Oh that’s cool! I tried to take part in their beta but it was a mix of the app wouldn’t even start on my phone and when I finally found a version that would I couldn’t find my invite key anymore. Guess it’s time to give it a second chance :)

Thanks I get what you’re saying. I’m thinking more in line of “update hype has died down, everyone goes on vacation - we probably won’t play for a few weeks”. Either way I’ll be able to start it up from my smartphone at anytime so all it takes is a quick chat message to have me start it up :)

Interesting, thanks. Although the guide says roughly 10$ for t3.medium (2vCPU 4gb RAM) and I’m paying half of that at my current hoster for comparable specs. Still a cool guide!

It’s running! I had to use the same Java version but that was basically it. Maybe I’ll share the start-up/persistence scripts if they’re done soon-ish.

Thanks, that’s what I assumed. I’m hoping it’ll be easy to switch to better specs in the cloud and still affordable, especially if it’s easy to spin down the server on demand. We’re usually playing “in bursts” of a few weeks…

Thx for mentioning infomaniak, I’m looking for alternatives to Mailbox.org as they had to increase their prices. I’ve tried self hosting but somehow it always has been a hassle, might be just me though. Also mailinabox wasn’t around back then. I’ve got my domain at namecheap, they’ve got all the tools and a super cheap whoisguard service. Prices depend on the tld you’re looking for, so you’ll have to look it up.
