The shame is governments not doing anything to subsidise the energy.
I am lucky enough to now live in a country where electricity is subsidised and on top of that climate is mild enough not to have to heat my home that much.
I spend in a year what I used to in a month in my former place in Belgium.
Yes moving to the South was for a part motivated by energy prices.

6·1 year agoAs a dual Belgian-French citizen living in an English-speaking EU country that was once a possession of the Crown (and is still part of the Commonwealth), I can’t help but agree.
The ties between the UK and its (former or not) empire are still strong and somehow tying it to the EU would benefit both parties.
It would be interesting to do a poll in the UK now about rejoining, even the Brexiters may have changed their minds, they were sold freedom and got mostly misery.

ChatGPT@lemmy.world•When having a meal with classmates or colleagues, someone takes photos of everyone and shares it in a group chat without notifying beforehand. How can I politely decline

I hate Discord.
The interface is clunky. They always try to sell you useless (at least for me) options. What with the users posting so many gifs?
