In 1955 at the Le Mans 24 hour race there was a crash causing a Mercedes to launch over a wall and kill 83 spectators and injuring 120 others. It was the worst racing disaster in history and led to Merc pulling out of all racing for decades. I wonder if anyone at that company ever considered it might be a bit too on the nose when they signed that deal?
