This is one of the things I really like about using steam with Linux. For some of the old windows games I’ve tried they actually run better under proton than on modern windows. It helps you can easily swap to other compatibility tools like proton GE or Luxtorpeda.

I was gonna say World of Warcraft handled this with phasing (areas having different versions based on quest progress) but as I thought more, it’s still not great. Questing with friends can be confusing, and 100 points for you if you can tell me exactly how to get to each version of Dalaran. Navigation in general is a mess.

I kinda wish there were more MMOs that weren’t afraid to break their world for story progression.

mostly pessimism as I watch colleagues slowly get laid off for AI or off-shore dev work (i’m a software engineer). I suppose If they have to offshore anyways, might as well go all in. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

To be clear I, personally, don’t have any problem with H-1Bs i’m just pessimistic on what companies will take as an action item from this. Man, i’m just pessimistic about software engineering as a career in general lately.

Ending H-1B will only further accelerate domestic layoffs for outsourced talent. 🙄

It’s so weird, I’ve watched all the Apple announcement videos, all of the “whats new” videos, and i’ve been beta testing iOS 26 and 26.1. (I am an iOS developer) I have never seen this specific UI anywhere. I’ve spent the last 30 minutes trying to reproduce and I can’t make it happen (I even installed AdGuard to check).

Either you got some unexpected extension installed, you hit on some Safari bug, or you somehow found a feature that was not fully released yet.
