Agreed but it’s a common feature in a lot of cars and I’m assuming mandated in the state of California.

Science Memes@mander.xyz•Can't prove environmental issues if you don't have the dataEnglish
11·4 days agoThe reason is actually quite simple. It owns the libs. Full stop.
Gambling addiction is about the high like any other addiction. It comes down to brain chemistry, and personality. There’s the high from anticipation, and a second from the payoff just like every addiction. Gambling is just easier than most because it’s money, something we all have to use. Like food addiction, it’s something we all need to consume.
That and dark energy. Although this may apply for cosim super-voids and not a void in a cluster, but the expansion of space is faster in areas of space that have less mass than cosmic strings. So if someone built a ship and tried to enter a void they would have to overcome the ‘escape’ (not really but I don’t care enough to use the correct terms correctly) velocity of the galaxy, and the expanding space ahead of them.
Kerosene, if we burn you burn with us!
Well as it turns out, when Padme Amidala dies she is actually resurrected a long, long time after her death, in a galaxy far, far away. On a planet named Earth, it’s just their word for dirt, in a city called Jerusalem as a actor named Natalie Portman. Who will try to walk the line between Israeli citizen and international celebrity actor. Unfortunately for her when Hammas attacks Israel and Israel commits a genocide in response Natalie Portman doesn’t join the anti-genocide side. Padme Amidala isn’t a Zionist because I don’t think Earth has humans when Padme is alive.
She’s not wrong.

6·6 days agoMy advice as someone who’s server is so large backups aren’t feasible at my price point. Ensure that things you care a lot about, photos, family videos, tax information, things that can’t be replaced have a proper 3-2-1 backup solution and test it periodically. Nothing worse that putting all that effort into a backup then not being able to recover.
I do not recommend backing up media, like movies, TV shows, audiobooks, and music. Use a 2-1. Have two copies of the data with one offline. I have over 20Tb of high-res media and it would cost more than it’s worth to me to backup that stuff. So I don’t. I can just redownload The Lord of the Rings, I can’t redownload the video my parents took of me in a childhood school play.

Political Memes@lemmy.world•Another reminder that Conservatives don't actually listen to the song lyrics
4·6 days agoClearly that’s talking about the radical left. Who else would possibly burn a cross as a symbol of their movement than the godless radical left? It’s obviously a Christian song.

5·9 days agoThat’s exactly what happened. The supplier cut corners and the device didn’t flush the CO2 away resulting in an agonizing death suffocating on CO2. They also didn’t supply enough nitrogen and just used whatever tank they could procure from a welding supply store.
In my experience the library is often visited by homeless people because it’s free entertainment. A lot of the homeless people around my area are also alcoholics and have you ever tried to take alcohol away from an alcoholic. It’s not easy.
No, now it’s only $3.50 a hour more than a fast food job with unpaid overtime.
I’d argue No Man’s Sky is a great game now. You’re right, the distaste didn’t come from no where. If anyone is on the fence about the game I’d recommend that you give it a try. If you’re still unsure buy it during a sale, it’s usually on for pretty cheap.

Uplifting News@lemmy.world•Hawaii just entirely removed corporations' power to spend money in politics. This could be a game changer for US democracy.English
4·10 days agoLoopholes are a free pass when the judicial branch won’t enforce the laws that stop it. All of that is great when everyone is acting in good faith, except the government doesn’t act in good faith anymore.

2·10 days agoIt’ll never be enforced, and the Hawaii Democrats know it. I guarantee you that before the year is out the USSC will rull from the shadow docket that this is unconstitutional. Like, what type of federal government do you think is in power right now?
“L’État, c’est moi.”
While a prevalence of 0.8% may seem like a tiny amount but when applied to a large population it’s a significant number of people. Let’s say a city has a nice round 100,000 people, a small city by any measure. That’s 800 people, not such a small number anymore. The lives of those 800 people are worth thinking about. Granted in the context of a larger population but it’s still something.

Everything you touched had a thin sticky layer of cigarette smoke gunk on it. Hell I remember doctors casually smoking in examination rooms.
