Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•YOU HAVE HURT THE FEE-FEES OF THE CHINESE PEOPLE!1!!!English
86·4 days agoI literally open the post with “it’s not racist.” To ignore that and read the rest of the post as “I don’t care if it is racist” is either intentionally dishonest, or incredibly stupid. Regardless of whether or not you agree with my take, those are the only two options for misrepresenting my opinion as “I don’t care if it is racist,” so take your pick on which of the two you think you’re being right now.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•YOU HAVE HURT THE FEE-FEES OF THE CHINESE PEOPLE!1!!!English
178·5 days agoExtremely different in historical context, considering one is a stereotype of a victim of genocide (obviously, the Jewish people, not Nathanyhu, fuck that guy slightly harder than Xi), and the other is specific to the leader of a nation perpetuating it.

3312·5 days agoIt’s not.
Tankies like to argue that comparing Xi Xiping to Winnie the Pooh is racist because Winnie the Pooh is that off orange-yellow colour, and it’s easy to pretend racism starts and ends at vague commentary about skin colour and not, you know, power structures and oppression.
But it’s an argument of convinience, brought to you by the same people who scream “ReAd ThEoRy!!” when obscure, specific and often misunderstood academic understandings of complex political systems are more useful to their mental gymnastics.
What actually matters is that it upsets a dictator of one of the most powerful countries of the world. And fuck that guy in particular.

Games@lemmy.world•Video Game Reverse Engineering Community Shuts Down Because AI Has Made It Too EasyEnglish
6·17 days agoI’ve been enjoying “using AI is like using a hammer to put screws it a board. It looks fine and holds together for a bit, but the littlest bit of pressure or shaking and it starts to fall apart.”

43·21 days agoThis is why I put “winning” in quotes. It’s meaningless, but it’s useful for specific observations about things like brigading.

117·21 days agoPurely anecdotal, but I also feel like I’ve been seeing far fewer random .ml accounts defending fascist dictators in the past few days. Normally, a thread like this would be overwhelmed with them, and anyone who disagreed would have 5-10 downvotes. Today there’s exactly one, and the people shitting on him are “winning” the votes.
To be fair, this is also not Lemmy.world, or any of the more “mainstream” Lemmy communities.
That’s the funny thing about echoes: they tend to distort whatever is being said. Perfect for not letting pesky little things like reality get between you and what you want to hear.

Not The Onion@lemmy.world•Trump Calls Anyone Who Says ‘AI’ Instead Of ‘Super Intelligence’ An ‘Enemy’English
26·25 days agoHomie, you can’t even convince me to call it “AI.” It’s an LLM, an algorithm that pumps out letters in the order that we’ve taught it to calculate to be most desirable.
Inevitable “well, ackshually”: yes, I know there are a lot of legitimate non-LLM models out there, but that’s not what the colloquial conversations are talking about, and importantly not what Trump is talking about, as he has no idea what he is talking about.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Former Activision CEO Bobby Kotick joins Skydance board as company takes control of Warner Bros. GamesEnglish
5·25 days agoI’m surprised his promotion took this long. CEOs who are willing to threaten to have their employees killed usually fail upward a little faster.
Well, on the bright side, his face remains extremely punchable.

Political Memes@lemmy.world•A month before an election!? BlooMAGA, amirite???English
313·1 month agoI dislike the term Communism, as it’s associations with Stalinist thought muddies the waters between it and Fascism. I identify as socialist, myself.
What I take issue with is the fact that you support fascism and call it by a different name. I quite enjoyed “misinformation and hate” as a more direct statement. As an aside, go fuck yourself, fascist.

You can make any argument you want when you imagine words to mean whatever you need them to mean.

626·1 month agoLet’s be straight here: the likliest scenario is that Lemmy was explicitly created for the purpose of giving tankies a platform to spread misinformation and hate. It is the Nazi bar.

Imagine playing victim about something no one said. The very definition of “strawman.”

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Should've banned it all the way through high school, but it's better than most.English
23·2 months agoAs a teacher, I can’t agree enough. I’m really tired of being handed slop from my coworkers, and then having to weigh the social implications of explaining to them how I know it is slop and why this particular case of slop is bad. The amount of energy I have to spend deconstructing their use of AI, and then translating and validating that deconstruction to them, doesn’t match the effortlessness with which they pump out more slop and leave me frustrated that I have to do this every time.
Just ban it from use in elementary and secondary schools, please.

I was just going to leave it at “funny, I’d say the same thing about billionaires,” but this is more through.
