I think “making” AI art is essentially the same as commissioning a painting - you’re describing what you want to someone else and they’re making it for you (although in this case ‘someone’ is a kind of highly-optimized plagiarism machine, but same kind of principle.) When it’s done, you might “own” the result, but you didn’t make it IMO.
What I also do with mine is create a new alias for each thing I give my email to, and label which service it was. That way, if they sell my email onto someone else I’ll know exactly who did it, and if I want to unsubscribe from something I don’t have to go through their whole process and trust them to honour it, I can just nuke the alias and then it’s their problem lol
I think it’ll be fine with a bit of a rest and a mild reboot. That’s one of the strengths of the show, the cast and crew always changes eventually and it goes on.
Yeah I agree. As much as I like the 2005-2025-ish era, the show does need a fresh coat of paint. We can’t just keep handing it back and forth between RTD, Moffat and Chibnall forever.
Random thought and very much not the pressing issue of the moment, but if RTD and all his crew are out, and the BBC isn’t actually producing it, I wonder if that’s enough for Christopher Eccleston to come back and do an episode?
Although probably best to lay off the nostalgia for a bit if it’s coming back with a whole new crew at some point.
It had an interesting production history too! Jerome Bixby started working on it in the 60s, and eventually finished it from his deathbed in 1998, and then it still didn’t get made until 2007. The producers also thanked movie pirates for building word-of-mouth when it first came out.

I think one of the main hurdles for Linux is having to break habits and do things differently, and occasionally just accepting that there are some things you can’t do (like playing games that have certain anti-cheat things enabled etc.) As well as the occasional “well I could probably make this work eventually, but is it worth the effort?” kind of situation.
There’s nothing especially I miss from Windows, although I’ve been mostly Linux for 15+ years now so Windows is the other, weird OS to me these days lol
Without giving too much info, I had to use it as part of a legal process a while ago, it’s what the solicitors use to verify ID so I didn’t really have a choice but to use it. But my thinking about using things like GrapheneOS etc. isn’t necessarily to be 100% anonymous online, it’s more to just minimize the amount of info they can get out of me.
I suspect that could also be what’s apparently halted all progress on the novels - this may have been the general plan for the book endings, and GRRM saw how much people hated it and scrambled to change it. But yeah if he just did that ending and gave it space to unfold properly it’d probably be fine.

I always liked how the best argument against wind farms they could come up with was they’re an eyesore, even though they’re not really that different from windmills, which nobody objects to. But yeah a massive grey cube that drains all the fresh water out of everything in a 10-mile radius is just fine.

I suspect if we did have another vote, it wouldn’t go in favour of Rejoin anyway (and I say this as a remainer who never supported leave at all.) I suspect a lot of people assume we’ll be rejoining with the same deal we had before, so if we tried to rejoin and Europe said we have to accept the Euro, the right-wing papers would fire up and have a field day about it, and a big chunk of those people who wanted a second vote would flip sides.
