The root partition ID is in the grub configuration, it’s mounted when the system boots. Then fstab is read and the other partitions are mounted.

fstab is needed for root mount options and other partitions, but as you saw with your system if the only partitions other than root are not needed to boot your system will boot fine (I don’t know which options grub uses when mounting root though)

To me pasting a chatbot output and replying based on something you just learned from a chatbot is the exact same thing. If I want to ask the crap machine, I do it myself. But I don’t.

The Piped kodi addon sometimes works, but it’s been so rare I found myself downloading videos and streaming them to Kodi over DLNA most of the time… Not perfect but it works

Les voitures ça me flingue, c’était vraiment le truc que je pensais que je pourrai toute ma vie réparer sans problème, mais ça devient impossible de faire même des opérations basiques de maintenance (Cf. Hyundai qui empêche de changer les plaquettes sans un passage à la valise pour desserrer les freins).

J’ai galéré à trouver une voiture électrique qui soit pas un iphone sur roue (c’est juste une version électrique d’une voiture “basique” habituellement thermique donc pas plus d’électronique pour rien) mais elle j’ai quand même du fouiller au fond de 35 menus pour désactiver la transmission de données de localisation (et autre j’imagine) au constructeur, qui est activée par défaut…

Here people can sell more than they use, so some people actually make money out of their solar panels. But they are selling at very different rates than what they are buying.

Of course storing energy would be more efficient than selling during the day and buying during the night, while putting the grid under more pressure during both

I leave near a historical monument so I cannot install solar panels, nor can almost the whole village… Otherwise in France it seems pretty easy to do so, but I think most of the time people sell the energy to the grid instead of trying to store it.

I wouldn’t say a lot, I’ve never met anyone else with an UPS, even in my most techy circles

Retrofitting ICE cars to EV would be the obvious best option but unfortunately it’s still really expensive to do. Plus, most of the kits target classic cars, which are not the priority imo

Edit: read the responses and you’re right, it doesn’t scale well. I would love to see OEMs organize some kind of mass retrofitting for their most sold models though.
