Still a lot of “drugs are bad” propaganda in that article

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why don't I care about the Artemis mission/program?
11·4 days agoAnd don’t forget that a big part of the shuttle sucking was caused by the military who forced nasa to make major design changes so that the shuttle could fulfill military tasks. Tasks which the shuttle never even wound up being used for because the military simply created their own separate rockets to do those tasks.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why don't I care about the Artemis mission/program?
82·4 days agoIt’s more than that. The thought of us doing something incredible like establishing a permanent moon base feels more depressing than inspiring these days because enshitification will be baked into it right from the planning stages

TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•Creating the cloaked, self-replicating mines qualifies Rom for "miracle worker"
3·5 days agoThat’s what people have said, but when you look at the objects being replicated on the show you see that it isn’t true.

TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•Creating the cloaked, self-replicating mines qualifies Rom for "miracle worker"
7·5 days agoReplicator technology is so overpowered that star trek almost always steers clear of actually using it for anything useful, so I’m not sure why they decided to do it in this one episode. Like with replicator technology you could have an essentially infinite number of enterprises, or make a million billion defiants. You could build a self-replicating clown car and quickly bury the entire surface of a planet in a pile of clown cars that’s 3 miles high.
It NEVER worked. Read the Research section on that page

That’s what he said when he got arrested for drunk driving. Not concern over the fact that he was seriously endangering innocent people’s lives, just concern that the arrest was gonna be a problem for his tour
This is gonna ruin the tour

Comic Strips@lemmy.world•Gameplay mechanics were also a lot better with more replayability.

US Robotics 55,000 baud modem. Is that wrong enough?
Nonsense, your definitions of these trait label categories is entirely black and white, when in reality close to no one fits 100% into a category completely

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•An architect of GameStop's long-forgotten Steam competitor explains why he thinks Valve came out on top: 'What Steam did better than anybody else was to create a community'
66·12 days agoWhy would the loser of a competition have insider info about what the winner did to win? Doesn’t make much sense.
Don’t be too cocky about that one. For example Russia has been throwing people at Ukraine who are little more than warm bodies to soak up bullets to protect their more valuable trained soldiers.
Yes, but you get it once you’ve reached the frontline. Have fun!

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Everyone knows hot air rises. So, do we gain or lose weight when we burp or fart?
2·12 days agoOP’s concept seemed to be about buoyancy. In the same way that a hot air balloon weighs more when it releases hot gas, so too should a human weigh more when they release hot gas. So the question comes down to, is the decrease of buoyancy force more or less than the weight of the ejected gas molecules?

Yes
