Aye, good point. And Israel. Israel is a huge donor to thr current mob, and holds massive amounts of influence. It’s almost like any foreign money in politics is bad for the locals.

It’s good to see a bit of pragmatism from the people in charge. Proof that they are not “all the same/all as bad as each other” (which is itself an opinion popularised and propagated by Russia during the Brexit era). Never forget the Tories and Reform have very strong longstanding links to Russian money and interference: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-43448559

The person in the image above reported and repeated the claims about AI’s potential to wipe out humanity without irony or sceptism on a recent video. I used to watch her but found her tangled neverending analogies tiresome… Always something like “XYZ is spending money like an ABC, with an QRS sized hole In the money bucket while DEF does ZZZ to scoop up the dropped pennies… we all know what that is like, don’t we?”.

The caveat at the bottom is telling. It strikes me that this incarcerated men knew they had to caveat the donation or it would get spent on SUV maintenance or something.

I think magazines (like newspapers) are sale or return. If they sell, the distributer collects some $ from the retailer. If they don’t sell, they have to come and take them back. It would be bad for business if people carried one around the store while they shopped, but changed their mind before they got to the checkout.

Maybe the bill will get an amendment. Maybe a 2nd amendment is required.

I have found that if I hug the kerb, the overtakers driver side wheel barely kisses the centre white line. If I get in the middle of the lane, they generally wait until it’s safe to pass and then get both sets of wheels over the line. Added bonus of some room between me and the kerb if I need to take evasive action.

Work is an interesting point. Maybe working with a computer (a till, a barcode scanner, a stock checker, a multimeter) will be the thing that gets people scooped up and compliant first - even if you are using a work device, on a work network, on the business premises. If you want the $10 an hour: “gotta scan your ID, or you can’t activate the wafflegrill”
It’s annoying that Cloudflare is basically facilitating / enabling the proliferation of the “zero click” internet that a handful of the worlds richest people are so keen on… And while they are encouraging site owners to hold the door open for AI, Cloudflare continues to punish actual human website visitors with their “are you human” barriers to entry. It would be nice if some of the people running it actually valued the internet a little bit ffs.

20 years after Jamies School dinners tried it (and caused “worried” parents to deliver sausage and chips through the school gates to their kids) its good to see a tiny improvement finally land. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/south_yorkshire/5349392.stm

The UK charity commission is right to advise a UK charity about their wrongdoing (associated with their response to promotion and sale of Palestinian land in a London synagogue).

Reminder that 80% of people don’t read past the headline - most people will believe the lie even if they only see it here. News outlets know this, so the headline should be “Trump breaks the law and commits election fraud with false claims about payments to voters” or whatever.

Yeah, but: AI is important and valuable to millions of people… But only as a search engine. And only because Google ruined their own web search engine on purpose. Governments are making AI data centres part of national infrastructure (like rail or roads) when we should have forced Google to do the right thing with similar laws and protections against the enhshitefication of it. Give us back a good Google, and the use case for AI disappears (along with the threat of humanity destruction) overnight.

Richard Branson is on a big AstroTurf PR tabloid inch buying jaunt following several recent exposé on apparent similarities between Branson and Jeffrey Epstein. This might be why he keeps emerging from his nonsense island to do photoshoots and hunt virgins enemies (like Eurostar)

Pfft. That’s not saying much. Seems like they suddenly leapt straight in to action after barely a couple of years of justifications and excuses. I would piss my knickers if they got a certain human rights expert with relevant government experience to be involved in the lengthy “legal process” to determine if anything bad happened during the genocide

I saw Eli Computer Guy on YT yesterday describing how “you don’t allow the intern full access/permissions/privileges to delete the production database”. Swap “AI” for “intern” in the marketing material and the real culprit is clear - it’s the person who left the door open without any foresight or common sense. You can’t blame the intern.
It’s more simple than that - like doge, this will be an extraction of public money, and maybe the transfer of more data from government / publicly funded storage to Musk’s CSAM generating facility.
