I have a Ukrainian friend since like 2015, he is US citizen now. since last year they force smile and socialise less, just trying to stay busy with their kids.

It’s so painful that I don’t even know how to talk to him about this anymore. I just let him drive the conversation for most part. Most of the time, in the back of my head, I feel the pain of his family/relatives who have been displaced/disabled/dead.

I can’t imagine losing your homeland to a cruel dictator.

I think Reddit will be take over by the oligarchs very soon. Their goal is to control 100% of narrative just like how it is in Russia, NK, China etc. Their goal is to stop liberals from communicating on social media.

We are still a democracy. We still have the legal process.

For me guns are mostly for defense not offense. It is to protect my family and friends. Frankly my hope is I will never have to fine upon another human being.

Most important aspect of guns are deterrence. Imagine 50 millions people have guns, now the army/cops will think twice before harassing the citizens because they are all armed. Yeah, the army has heavy weapons and drones as such, but those are useless when you are dealing with 50 millions people spread over a million sq mile.

The threshold for violence has to be a lot bigger than them laying of 100s of thousands of people. IMO, for political activism peaceful protesting is the best method as proven by MLK, Gandhi, etc. We lost the election because 40% did not vote, Trump won with only 32% vote. Harris also had 31% votes.

I am not surprised though. Someone with money is now exerting influence because Reddit is the most popular place for the resistance to oligarchy. Oligarchy aim is to own all media and they believe that will be the end of resistance’s ability to spread messages.

I hated forums. I was part of one which got take over by right wing mods since the owner was pro religion+nationalism. All the good people left and it is dead now. I love reddit because it is not personal, I don’t know anyone unlike in a forum with 50 active users, you become a regular and before you know it, people make it their personal agenda to attack you because you are a libtard as they used to call me.
