With the release of Astro Boy in 1963 Anime in Japan experienced an unparalleled boom period. This coincided with the Japanese Economic Miracle, a time in which Japan rose to become one of the most dominant economic players in the world. Both events are legendary in their importance, but, as with all historic events, they have become shrouded in myth and fallacy.
