Hello,
Yesterday I installed the latest server 2022 iso to a new dell poweredge r650xs. Just a basic build, with the latest dell drivers and all bios/firmware up to date.
The first thing I did was to check windows updates. We have a 1gb FTTP internet line, and speedtest to that server indicates around 800mb download speeds.
It took 9hrs to download and install 2023-09 CU KB5030216
Reading around on other forums this seems about right, even though lots of people are complaining why they are so slow.
My question is, why are they so slow?
I know updates were like this on server 2016, but 2019 seemed much better.
I’m working on a second server today, I checked for updates at 11:00am, now it’s 12:04 and the download is at 54%. If I download direct from the MS catalog, it takes less than a minute. The .msu is only 349mb.
Thanks
