If you are thinking about visiting: Don’t!
It isn’t romantic, everything is overpriced, it’s crowded as fuck and basically everything there is a scam. Now it has a lot of water, which is unique, but that water is also the open sewer. So when the temperature hits 25+ (and that’s almost every day in the summer), the smell becomes awful.
Highly disagree with your statement, if you go off season it is very much the opposite of what you describe. It’s absolutely beautiful and mindblowing in many many ways.
Of course there might be tourist traps and scams but they’re not too hard to avoid.
